FAQ

SonoVive FAQ: Common Questions, Plain Answers

Quick answer

SonoVive is a 30-capsule supplement made to support hearing and brain health.

It has five named herbs, and one bottle costs $69. St. John's wort in it can weaken many medications, so check with a pharmacist.

SonoVive basics

What is SonoVive used for?

The bottle says it promotes hearing health and supports brain function. Those are the seller's words, not test results. SonoVive is a dietary supplement, not a treatment for tinnitus, hearing loss or dementia, and the FDA statement printed by the brand says the same.

Who makes SonoVive?

The vendor names its company only as SonoVive and publishes no legal name or address. Sonovives, which runs the site, is a retailer, not the maker. See About Sonovives.

How many capsules are in a bottle of SonoVive?

Thirty, per the bottle front. The sales page calls one bottle a 30-day supply. The serving size itself is not published, so read the directions on your bottle before you count days.

Is SonoVive approved by the FDA?

No, it is not FDA approved. FDA does not approve any dietary supplement before sale, and a facility registration number is not approval either (FDA supplement Q&A) (21 CFR 1.242).

Is SonoVive a scam?

We call no one a scam. Fair points: a one-time price, a 60-day refund that takes opened bottles, and careful wording on the bottle. Weak points: no label panel, no product study, and a vendor disclaimer saying some testimonials used paid actors.

Ingredients and the label

How much St. John's wort is in SonoVive?

The vendor does not say. Sponsored articles report 250 mg per capsule, which would make it the largest ingredient, but nobody has confirmed that figure. Even a small amount matters, because St. John's wort can weaken many medicines (NCCIH St. John's wort).

Why can't I find SonoVive's Supplement Facts panel?

No photo shows the side of the bottle, and the vendor pages do not print the panel. Check your own bottle when it arrives. More on the SonoVive label.

Does SonoVive contain vinpocetine?

Yes, it is one of the five named ingredients. FDA says vinpocetine does not meet the definition of a dietary ingredient and warns against it in pregnancy (FDA vinpocetine).

Does SonoVive use a gelatin capsule?

Possibly. One sponsored article lists gelatin, so we never call it vegetarian, despite a badge on the sales page. The vendor publishes no capsule details.

What else is in SonoVive besides the five named herbs?

The sales page says "and more!". Sponsored articles add L-glutamine, phosphatidylserine and acetyl-L-carnitine, each at amounts far below study doses. Treat that list as unverified until a label panel appears.

Group 3

Does SonoVive work?

Can SonoVive help ringing in the ears?

There is no good evidence it does. Ginkgo is the only named ingredient tested for tinnitus, and a 2022 Cochrane review of 12 studies rated its benefit uncertain (Cochrane: Ginkgo for tinnitus 2022). NIDCD lists sound therapy, hearing aids and counseling as the real helps (NIDCD tinnitus).

Has SonoVive been tested in a clinical trial?

No trial of SonoVive has been published. Its reference list holds 28 bare links, and none of them tests SonoVive itself.

Does SonoVive improve memory?

Unknown. Bacopa helped memory recall at 300-450 mg a day over 12 weeks (Pase 2012 bacopa review), but SonoVive's bacopa amount is not published, and the reported figure is far lower.

How long should I try SonoVive before deciding?

Decide before day 60 so you can still return the bottles. The refund page suggests three months of use, which is longer than its own window. Keep a weekly note of ringing and hearing so the choice rests on more than memory.

Should I try SonoVive or hearing aids first?

Hearing aids. They are the proven help for age-related loss, and adults with mild to moderate loss can buy them over the counter (FDA OTC hearing aids). Compare both on SonoVive vs hearing aids.

Safety and medicines

Can I take SonoVive with warfarin or daily aspirin?

Ask your doctor first. Ginkgo and vinpocetine may add to bleeding risk, and St. John's wort can weaken warfarin (NCCIH ginkgo) (NCCIH St. John's wort).

Will SonoVive stop my birth control pill from working?

It might. St. John's wort can make birth control pills less effective (NCCIH St. John's wort). Talk to your prescriber, and note that vinpocetine should be avoided if you could become pregnant.

Can I take SonoVive with donepezil?

Not without your doctor's say. Huperzine A blocks the same enzyme as donepezil and rivastigmine, and experts advise against combining them (ADDF huperzine A). Bacopa may interact with these drugs too (ADDF bacopa 2024).

What side effects can SonoVive cause?

The product itself has never been studied for safety. Named herbs can cause stomach upset, dizziness, poor sleep and restlessness (NCCIH St. John's wort) (ADDF bacopa 2024). Full list: SonoVive side effects.

Should I stop SonoVive before surgery?

Tell your surgeon you take it. Supplements can change bleeding and anesthesia response (ODS: What you need to know), and ginkgo and vinpocetine both touch on bleeding.

Is SonoVive safe during pregnancy?

No. FDA says pregnant women and women who could become pregnant should not take vinpocetine (FDA vinpocetine). Skip it while breastfeeding too.

Taking SonoVive

How do I take SonoVive?

Follow the directions printed on your bottle. The vendor publishes none online, and we will not guess a number of capsules. Swallow with water, and check your medicine list with a pharmacist before the first one. Steps: how to use SonoVive.

Is it better to take SonoVive in the morning or at night?

The vendor gives no time of day. Pairing it with a meal you never skip, as your label directs, makes it easier to remember.

How should I store SonoVive?

Storage advice is not published. Keep the cap closed, keep the bottle somewhere cool and dry, and follow anything printed on it. A bathroom cabinet gets steamy, so a kitchen shelf away from the stove is a better spot.

Can people under 18 take SonoVive?

No. The owner's brief limits SonoVive to adults 18 and over, and the vendor gives no age limit of its own. For anyone younger, ask their doctor rather than splitting an adult product.
