SonoVive Ingredients: The Five Named Ingredients

Quick answer

SonoVive names five ingredients: ginkgo biloba, St. John's wort, Bacopa monnieri, vinpocetine and huperzine A.

The vendor does not print an amount for each one. St. John's wort can weaken many common medications, so check with a pharmacist first.

The formula

What ingredients are in SonoVive?

Five ingredients are named for SonoVive. Most are herbs. One is a drug-like compound, and one comes from a moss.

The names come from the owner's brief and the brand's Inside SonoVive graphic. The sales page lists the same five, then adds "and more!" without saying what more means. No Supplement Facts panel is published. So nobody outside the company knows the exact recipe.

So every amount below is marked unverified, and every dose comes from studies of one ingredient alone, never of SonoVive.

The vendor's graphic names five ingredients but prints no amounts. Its molecule sketches are artwork, not chemical structures.

Side by side

How much of each ingredient is in SonoVive?

The vendor does not say. Each row sets a reported figure beside the research dose.

The five ingredients named for SonoVive, next to the amounts used in research. The vendor publishes no amounts; figures in brackets come from sponsored third-party articles and are not confirmed.
IngredientOn the labelWhat research has usedEvidence
Ginkgo bilobaNot published (50 mg reported, unverified)240 mg a day for about 6 years (GEM trial); tinnitus trials varied (Cochrane: Ginkgo for tinnitus 2022) (Cochrane: Ginkgo for tinnitus (Hilton)) (NCCIH ginkgo) (GEM trial (DeKosky 2008)) (MSKCC ginkgo) (NTP ginkgo TR-578)Uncertain for tinnitus
St. John's wortNot published (250 mg reported, unverified)Depression trials, 35 studies; never studied for hearing (NCCIH St. John's wort) (Apaydin 2016 SJW review)None for hearing
Bacopa monnieriNot published (120 mg reported, unverified)300-450 mg a day for 12 weeks or more (Pase 2012 bacopa review) (Kongkeaw 2014 bacopa meta-analysis) (ADDF bacopa 2024)Some, for memory recall
VinpocetineNot published (2 mg reported, unverified)5-60 mg a day in dementia trials (FDA vinpocetine) (MSKCC vinpocetine) (ADDF vinpocetine) (Cochrane vinpocetine)Inconclusive
Huperzine ANot published (10 mcg reported, unverified)200-800 mcg a day for 8-36 weeks (Cochrane huperzine A) (Yang 2013 huperzine meta-analysis) (ADDF huperzine A)Weak (poor-quality trials)

Read the last column first. Only bacopa has fair support. That support is for memory, not hearing (Pase 2012 bacopa review).

Dose check

Are SonoVive's reported amounts enough to matter?

Each bar shows the reported amount as a share of the lowest study dose.

Amount per capsule reported by third parties (unverified)Low end of the research dose

SonoVive publishes no amounts. The bars use the per-capsule amounts printed in two sponsored articles, which we could not confirm, against the lowest daily dose used in studies of each ingredient alone. St. John's wort has no hearing dose to compare: it was never studied for hearing.

Most bars stop well short of the line. Vinpocetine reaches about 40% of its lowest trial dose, the lowest dose ever tried. In one review, 30 to 60 mg a day helped in dementia trials while 15 mg did not (ADDF vinpocetine). Huperzine A barely shows at all.

Three lists

Why do SonoVive ingredient lists online not match?

Because they come from three different places, and only one of them is the company itself.

Beyond the five

What other ingredients might be in SonoVive?

Three more ingredients and four capsule materials show up only in sponsored articles. None is named by the vendor.

Reported only

L-glutamine

An amino acid studied mainly in cancer care and recovery after surgery. We found no research linking it to hearing or memory (MSKCC glutamine).

Reported only

Phosphatidylserine

Soy versions mostly failed to beat placebo for memory (ADDF phosphatidylserine) (Kato-Kataoka 2010 soy PS trial). FDA allows only a qualified, limited-evidence claim for it (FDA qualified health claims list).

Reported only

Acetyl-L-carnitine

Memory trials gave 1.5 to 3 grams a day with mixed results (ODS carnitine). A reported 50 mg is a tiny fraction of that.

Capsule shell

Gelatin

One article names a gelatin capsule. Gelatin comes from animals, so a plant-only diet claim would not hold. Check your bottle.

Medicine checks

Which SonoVive ingredients interact with medicines?

Four of the five carry a known medicine caution. Bring the bottle and your medicine list to a pharmacist before the first capsule.

Main medicine cautions for each named SonoVive ingredient, from NIH, FDA and cancer-center herb profiles
IngredientMedicines and conditions to raise
St. John's wortBirth control pills, warfarin, cyclosporine, some statins, antidepressants, HIV medicine (NCCIH St. John's wort)
Ginkgo bilobaWarfarin, antiplatelet drugs, NSAIDs, insulin, drugs that lower the seizure threshold (MSKCC ginkgo)
Bacopa monnieriThyroid medicine, anticholinergics, dementia drugs; slow heart rate, ulcers, asthma (ADDF bacopa 2024)
VinpocetineBlood thinners, blood-pressure drugs; pregnancy or possible pregnancy (FDA vinpocetine) (MSKCC vinpocetine)
Huperzine ADonepezil, rivastigmine and similar drugs (ADDF huperzine A)
Pregnancy and vinpocetine

FDA warned in 2019 that women who are pregnant or could become pregnant should not take vinpocetine, citing miscarriage and fetal harm (FDA vinpocetine). SonoVive names it on the brand graphic.

The hearing question

Is any SonoVive ingredient shown to help hearing?

No. Ginkgo is the only one ever tested for ringing in the ears, and a 2022 Cochrane review of 12 studies found the benefit uncertain (Cochrane: Ginkgo for tinnitus 2022). The rest were studied for mood or memory. NIDCD says no herb or vitamin has been shown to work for tinnitus, and points people to sound therapy, hearing aids and counseling (NIDCD tinnitus). Compare the options on SonoVive vs hearing aids.

Before you buy

What should you ask the seller about SonoVive's formula?

Ask for the Supplement Facts panel in writing. A seller who knows the formula should be able to share it. These four questions cover the gaps:

  • How many milligrams of each named ingredient are in one serving?
  • What does "and more!" on the sales page include?
  • Is the capsule made from gelatin or a plant material?
  • Is there a lab report for heavy metals, given bacopa's known contamination risk (ADDF bacopa 2024)?

Call the order desk at +1 (302) 200-3480. For the full label notes, see SonoVive supplement facts.

FAQ

SonoVive ingredients FAQ

What are the main ingredients in SonoVive?

The brand names five: ginkgo biloba, St. John's wort, Bacopa monnieri, vinpocetine and huperzine A. Sponsored articles add L-glutamine, phosphatidylserine and acetyl-L-carnitine, plus a gelatin capsule. The vendor has not published a Supplement Facts panel, so the full list and the amounts cannot be confirmed.

Does SonoVive contain St. John's wort?

Yes. St. John's wort is one of the five named ingredients, and sponsored articles report it as the largest, at 250 mg per capsule. It is a mood herb that was never studied for hearing. It can weaken birth control pills, blood thinners, antidepressants and many other medicines, so ask a pharmacist first.

Is the ginkgo in SonoVive enough to help tinnitus?

Unlikely. The reported 50 mg per capsule is about one fifth of the 240 mg a day used in the large GEM trial, and even full-dose ginkgo showed uncertain benefit for tinnitus in Cochrane reviews. The vendor has not confirmed the real amount, so read your bottle.

Is vinpocetine safe in a supplement?

FDA says women who are pregnant or could become pregnant should not take vinpocetine, and it has tentatively concluded vinpocetine does not meet the definition of a dietary ingredient. It may also add to the effect of blood thinners and blood-pressure drugs. Others should ask a doctor before using it.

Are SonoVive ingredients natural?

Most are plant extracts, but not all. Vinpocetine is made in a lab from a periwinkle compound and was first developed as a drug in Europe. That is why we do not repeat the sales page's all-natural wording. The capsule is reportedly gelatin, which comes from animals.
